This week 3D, having finished the Twits, started listening to a new book in the library: How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell.
This book (and the others in the huge eleven book series!) are hugely popular in the library, and now Year 3 is starting to borrow them too!
Here are a couple of things you should know about the series...
The films and the books are REALLY different!

...although they are equally sarcastic! The films took names and ideas from the books without copying them, so there are a lot of changes. In the books, the Vikings all train dragons from the beginning but in the first film they have no idea that it's even possible! In the books they are not just Vikings, but 'The Hairy Hooligans' and everyone thinks Toothless the dragon is a disappointing weakling at first.
There are more than just the eleven books in the series and the films! There is a World Book Day story, and a picture book about a much younger Hiccup. If younger children want to join in with their sibling's love of these books then Hiccup: The Viking Who was Seasick is a good place to start.
It's in the library too so come and have a look!
So let's get reading Year 3!
"First catch your dragon..."
