Junior Librarians

Junior Librarians at work!

Our junior librarians have been chosen from children in Year 5 and Year 6.

Since the beginning of our autumn term they have been busy helping to run our school library.

They have many duties such as the following:

·      To keep the library tidy and in correct order

·      To keep book corners around school tidy

·      To help issue and return books

·      To recommend books to other children

·      To help children to find books

This week at lunch times they have been focusing on being reading buddies for children in Year 1 and Year 2. The librarians go and collect the children from their playground, bring them to the library and read them stories.

Our junior librarians, Giancarlo and Alfie from Indigo Class have been holding READING CLOUD Workshops.

They have been demonstrating to children from all year groups how to access and enjoy ebooks and eAudiobooks on our READING CLOUD using chrome books.

They have as a mission to help to get all the children in school to use our great online digital reading resource.

Giancarlo and Alfie have shown fabulous independent learning.

Thank you to all our enthusiastic and creative junior librarians who help to make our library such a special place and to encourage reading for pleasure.

Junior Librarians

Junior Librarians

Autumn Term

Welcome to our new junior librarians who have been selected for this important role from our Year 5 and 6 children.

Congratulations on successfully completing your application and interview.

Our junior librarians will have the important job of making sure the library is a quiet, neat and cozy place to read for all. They will be inspiring their peers with book recommendations.

This year we have made the Treehouse into a special reading place for children in Year 1 and Year 2. Our junior librarians will be responsible for helping to supervise this area and being reading buddies.

"The library is my favourite place in school. It is quiet and I love books" - Anne-Marie - Violet Class

"I wanted to be a Junior Librarian to inspire others to read more" – Eva - Violet Class

"Being a Junior Librarian means that I get to have more responsibility" – Jessica - Violet Class

"I like reading so being around books makes me happy" – Elena -Violet Class

They have got their library badge and are ready to start!

WELL DONE!

READING BUDDIES

Reading Buddies

We have a new reading buddy initiative.

Our Junior Librarians have been busy being reading buddies for our KS1 children.

On free-flow lunchtime days the junior librarians go and collect any children that wish to visit the library. They bring them to the library and read to them and help them choose books to read independently in our special cozy book nook.

Both KS1 children and librarians enjoy a special reading moment together.
