World
Book Day at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery in Highgate was a
fabulous celebration to highlight the joys of reading with wonderful costumes,
competitions, story-telling and a book fair.
“World
Book Day is a great way to get budding bookworms excited about reading and show
how magical books can be,” says Head of School, Angela Noronha.

The
children and staff came dressed as book characters and gathered for an assembly
parading their costumes. What an amazing display of home-made creative
costumes. A Year 6 child came as the entire Hans Christian Andersen tale ‘The
Princess and the Pea’ including bed! We had a very convincing Sherlock Holmes
and a fabulous book fairy! The best
costumes were awarded ‘Willy Wonka Golden Ticket’ style book vouchers to spend
at our book fair and every child received a World Book Day £1 book token.

The
day was spent with children sharing stories with each other in class and in our
wonderful school library.

Well done and keep sharing stories!
