St Joseph’s World Book Day 2019 will take place on Thursday 7th March. The children are encouraged to DRESS UP as their favourite book character. There will be a COMPETITION for the best costumes with prizes of book vouchers to be used at our Book Fair.

To celebrate World Book Day we will be hosting a Book Fair, with hundreds of new children’s books to browse and buy. With prices starting from only £2.99, there’s sure to be a book for everyone.

When: Thursday 28^th February – Thursday 7th March

Times: 8:40 – 9:00am and 3:00 – 3:45pm

Where: New Conference Room

If you are unable to attend the Book Fair, books can be purchased in the following ways:

You can browse books online with your child at bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/parents.

To make a purchase send the money or the discounted Gift Vouchers purchased online into the school office in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name, class and title(s) of book(s).

Your child can select their own book(s) during the school day. Please provide the money in an envelope clearly marked with their name and class and give it to your child or the school office.

Every child will also receive a World Book Day £1 Book Token which can be used at the Book

Fair.

A mini catalogue will be sent home. Please check your child’s school bag.

We will also be joining the nationwide event to enjoy the pleasures of reading and SHARE A STORY on World Book Day, giving out stickers to all the children who participate. Spending just 10 minutes a day reading and sharing stories with children can make a crucial difference to their outcome and its fun for all involved. You can read together anywhere and everywhere, from breakfast to bedtime! Please join-in!

Don’t forget that every book you buy can help towards FREE BOOKS for our school library! The last Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success for St Joseph’s making nearly £2000 in FREE BOOKS for our Library. We hope it can be even bigger and better this time.

Junior Librarians

Junior Librarians!

Our Junior librarians have been selected for this important role-model post from our Year 5 and 6 children.

They are looking forward to working in our wonderful school library during lunch times.

They will have to important job of making sure that the library is a quiet, neat and cosy place to read for all.

They will be inspiring our younger children with their book recommendations.

Next half-term is going to be really exciting as we really focus on reading at St. Joseph’s!

WORLD BOOK DAY!

The 7th of March is World Book Day. All the children and even some of the staff will be welcome to dress up as one of their favourite book characters! Half Term is the ideal time to prepare your splendid costume. Check out the World Book Day website for lots of costume ideas:

Every child will also get a free £1 book voucher. You can use that voucher right away as the book fair starts on the 28th February! It be open before and after school each day in the NEW CONFERENCE ROOM until it ends on the 7th March . Please do come along.
