Over the last few weeks Year 2 have been hearing George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. Later in the year the children will be learning more about Roald Dahl and reading more of his books, so it's great that they have enjoyed this book so much!

Roald Dahl's dark sense of humour and mean-spirited grown-ups who get what they deserve is always a lot of fun, and this book is no exception.

George's grandma is absolutely awful and treats George horribly. He decides that her normal medicine clearly isn't helping her get any better so he'll make her a marvellous one of his own!

This book is great fun and is a good introduction to Roald Dahl.

Some children were able to predict some of what happened next. Anyone who had read Roald Dahl books before could also spot similarities to his other books, such as how Grandma reminds them of Miss Trunchbull in Matilda. Year 3 would spot some of Mr and Mrs Twit in these two characters too!

Who's your favourite villain?

Year 2 has joined in with all the awful sound effects that accompany the medicine's astonishing effects and always been incredibly excited to see what is coming next.

Stay tuned to see what is coming next and which story we'll be cooking up next week...
