CHRISTMAS FAIR

Our very enterprising Junior Librarians
decided to sell ex-library books at our Christmas Fair
to help raise money for our school.

They worked hard to arrange the stall; carrying the books from the library to the Junior hall, displaying them and making posters.

Books were sold at 20p for 2.
What a success!
They managed to sell most of the books.

The books left over were donated on our behalf by the PFA
to other local nursery schools.

Well done to our fabulous Junior Librarians!

NATIONAL POETRY DAY

NATIONAL POETRY DAY COMPETITION

We had our own poetry competition to celebrate.
Children in Years 1 to 6 wrote poetry on the National Poetry Day theme of ‘TRUTH’
The best poems were selected and awarded book vouchers for our Book Fair.
Well done to the winners!

Take a moment to read these fabulous poems!

TRUTH
We are now going down
We need to act right now
We are affected by a flood
If we don’t act now we will be dripping blood
200 species die out every day
Soon we will come to May
Then we will have to pay
This is our only choice
Greta Thunberg is the voice.
Sara – Emerald Class

TRUTH
What is Truth?
Is truth like maths,
Where every sum has a right answer?
No.
Truth is like the weather,
One moment you think it’s something,
But then it changes.
Truth is like a turtle,
So old and wise,
It probably knows more than we can imagine.
Truth is like the night sky,
With as many stars as ideas
That people think are true.
Truth is like the planets,
With so many secrets to be discovered,
Who know what could be there…
Truth is like a rainbow,
Some people believe there is a pot of gold at the end...,
But to tell the truth, I don’t know where I’m going with this verse!
So, truth…
It can be such a difficult thing to get along with –
It can be sad or uplifting,
Upsetting or exciting,
Scary or happy!
Truth is such a mysterious thing,
But remember, as the Bible says:
“The Truth will set us free”.

Eleanor – Tanzanite Class

TRUTH

Truth is being happy
Truth is being brave
Truth is sometimes easy
Truth is sometimes hard
Truth is best
Truth is secret
Truth can be fun.

Emile – Diamond Class

Truth

I'll tell the truth
If you don't shout
And promise not to kick me out
Or lecture me
Or ask me Why
Or breathe a big and heavy sigh.

I'll tell the truth
But don't get mad
And pretty please don't tell my dad
Just promise not to scream or cry
And this time I won't tell a lie.

Dillon – Indigo Class

Earth's Truth
Climate change how big or small.
Our World is in a great big fall.
Us children let's play our role!
No matter how short.
No matter how tall.
Turn off the TV for us all.
We can't hear earth's call.
Now stop going to the mall.
Us children let's play our role!

Elena – Green Class

HOPE YOU ENJOYED SPENDING YOUR BOOK VOUCHER

Author Trip

Our Year 4 children were invited to meet award winning children’s novelist and poet,

Michael Rosen

At
St Joseph’s Church
On
Monday 2nd December

Michael spoke to the children about being an author. Apparently, he has four university degrees!!

He recited many of his well-known funny poems getting the children to join in.
Laughter and excitement filled the church especially when he enacted his famous poem, ‘Chocolate Cake’.
Maybe next time he will come to our school. Fingers crossed!
