Pupil librarians are chosen from our Years 5 and 6 each term. They learn how to use the library as independent learners. At lunch times two junior librarians help to monitor the library with the librarian. They learn how the electronic management system works and have chance to share their love of reading and books with other pupils.

There are 10 places for Junior Librarians each term. You will work in pairs on a weekly rota.

If you would like to be a Junior Librarian please let the librarian know at the start of the new term in September.
Pick up an application form.
Once all the applications are in there will be an interview.

Over the holidays why not do a little research into the role of a Junior Librarian and come prepared for the job!

Summer Reading Challenge

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

On Wednesday 10th July at a special assembly we launched the 2019
SUMMER READING CHALLENGE.

The SUMMER READING CHALLENGE, which has taken place annually since 1999, aims to help children to retain their reading skills and confidence while school is out. Organised by the Reading Agency and run in partnership with the UK public library network, the campaign seems three quarters of a million children take part each year.

Children are challenged to read at least SIX library books over the summer and collect prizes, such as stickers along the way to earn their final challenge certificate and medal.

Each year, the SUMMER READING CHALLENGE has a new creative theme. 2019 will see the Challenge focus on space and aliens, marking it's 20th anniversary.

We invited a librarian from Islington to come into school to talk to the children about joining in with 'Space Chase' Summer Reading Challenge.
The children enjoyed a fun video and presentation.

It is simple to join in:

1. Register at Local Library

2. Read 6 books over the summer and join in with all the fun and games.

To find out more go to the Summer Reading Challenge website

At the assembly all the children who had joined in and completed last year's Summer Reading Challenge and/or Winter Reading Challenge were presented with a certificate.
