The Mayor of Islington

 The Mayor

We welcomed The Worshipful the Mayor of Islington to St Joseph’s today.

He came to launch the

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

The children gave him a standing ovation as he walked through the school on his way to our library.

The Mayor was very impressed with our library, which is at the heart of the school and provides an inspiring and calm place for our children to read. He particularly liked our cosy book nook under-the-stairs with cushions galore. Perfect to escape into a book!

The children gave his Worship a guided tour or our library and found out that his favourite book is ‘Oliver Twist’.

The Mayor spoke to the children about the importance of reading and especially to keep reading over the Summer.

Join in with the SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

The Mayor will be back to give every child a certificate and gold medal in the Autumn.

The sun has come out and we can now read outside.

Breaktimes at the Library

We have been busy transforming the library patio into a

Summer haven with the help of our Junior Librarians.

Sarah & Yzabelle - Blue Class

They have been having fun making flower bunting

and cut-out bees and butterflies.

Decoration Outside Library

Now at break-times children are drawn to our outside
